Shōnen Yangus to Fushigi no Dungeon

After releasing a trio of games starring Torneko in their Mystery Dungeon series, Enix decided to go with a new hero from the Dragon Quest universe. This time it would be Yangus from Dragon Quest VIII. For this adventure gamers got to see Yangus as a 12 year old kid, and learn about his relationship with Red, the other prominent thief from Dragon Quest VIII. There's even a brief cameo by Torneko in the game.

Like its predecessors, the game has randomly generated dungeons. One key element introduced here is that Yangus has a magic pot that sucks monsters into it. When they come out, they are friendly to him, and will help him in battle.

This was actually the first time that Chunsoft wasn't involved in the development of these roguelikes, as the torch was passed to Armor Project, and Bird Studio after the completion of Torneko 3. The game has sold respectably well since it came out in 2006, raking in a little over 300,000 sales.
